  • Sunsetting Caoga Caoga (22 Aug 2023)
Throughout 2017 and early 2018, I developed a suite of fifty-fifty games in which players could match vocabulary to images. Caoga caoga (Irish) was the most notable version, officially released and downloaded over 50,000 times. Other versions including pół na pół (Polish) and Fünfzig-Fünfzig (German) where made available to test, but never fully released due to work commitments.

  • Fifty-Fifty Devlog (31 Aug 2018)
It is almost seven months since I released an early-access version of Pół na pół for testing, while Caoga caoga has been out on the App Store and Google Play for almost six months. Since then, Caoga caoga has been downloaded much more than I imagined (over 3000 times on Google Play and 1000 times on the AppStore) and I’ve received a lot of feedback. Although Der Die Das, Konjugator etc. have been the priority the last couple of months, I’ve implemented some new features in Fifty-Fifty which I’ll discuss in this long overdue devlog.

  • Caoga caoga Post-Mortem #2 (16 Apr 2018)
Between 19.03 and 15.04 Caoga caoga has been downloaded 127 times from the App Store and 262 from Google Play. Compared to the 58% to 42% download ratio in favor of the App Store from 01.03 to 18.03, this period was instead 33% to 67%. Thus there are clearly now more Android than iOS users, which roughly falls in line with the testing phase where Android had more than 50% testers than iOS.

  • Caoga caoga SnaG Post-Mortem (18 Mar 2018)
On 01.03 I released Caoga caoga, a fun Irish vocabulary learning game, on the App Store and Google Play. Seachtain na Gaeilge (SnaG), an Irish language festival comprising of national and international events with a large social media presence, took place from the beginning of the month until St. Patrick’s Day on the 17th. The release of Caoga caoga was timed to coincide with SnaG, with the hope of additional exposure for the game. In this post mortem I will discuss download numbers, retention, what went right and what didn’t.
